Newtek Desktop technology can be utilized as an online backup and recovery service, leveraging existing infrastructure and Internet connections, to get data off-site to one of Newtek's secure data centers. Newtek agents may also be licensed for those that need to fill a critical hole in data protection for larger businesses with remote offices, laptops and personal computers not always on a network.

Users have the option to encrypt the data stored on the storage vault using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). Even if the encryption option is not selected, the data is still encrypted during transmission over the Internet to the electronic vault.
