Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape System Consolidates Remote Office Backups

Newtek Data Storage AutoBack Server is a disk-to-disk-to-tape solution that cost-effectively backs up data from all computers distributed throughout an organization, including those in remote facilities. Using automated disk-to-disk backup technology, AutoBack Server eliminates the labor-intensive manual tasks, as well as the frequent error-prone results associated with typical remote office data protection processes.

Data to be backed up from remote office computers is compressed, encrypted, and then transferred over the LAN or WAN to the Newtek AutoBack Server at the cu stomer's central data center where the data remains encrypted. The backup data is immediately available online for instant recovery by remote office personnel. Additionally, the backup data is catalogued for easy export to tape and subsequent pick-up by media storage service professionals. In the event of a disaster at the central facility, the AutoBack Server is easily replaced and can be quickly restored from the backup tapes.

Software agents are installed on each computer to be protected. Once installed, corporate-wide backups are easily scheduled via a centralized management console. These agents scan the computer for files created or altered since the last backup. Only the changed data is backed up to the AutoBack Server.

AutoBack Server centralizes the backup and recovery of all computers distributed throughout an organization-local and remote. Tapes are then created of the remote office backups and taken off-site by media storage professionals.
